I have read that same book you are reading and liked it very much. It is not that far from becoming true with all the religious stuff that politicians in this country mix up with politics! Maybe a premonition of what might happen in the (near?) future. I have also read some of her short stories (an anthology) and I like them too. I like her writting style... not bad for a Canadian LOL just joking! Star

Ive read it and the story bored me to distraction I was desperate for something to happen..unfortunately it never did and the ending was somewhat inevitable...altogether a load of overhyped drivel.

It could be because the story was meant to kind of 'speak' to women more than men... Maybe on the other hand, because you find it interesting to watch fast cars drive around and around and around and around and around the same eliptic circle... that is much more exciting by any comparison I assume! Yeah right... taking about overhyped drivel. Star

True, but at least the cars crash into one another and people could die. Sick, but at least interesting. I dislike Atwood as well. Best scifi author currently out of Canada is Spider Robinson.

I actually recently read somethig by her. It was in a book called first words. Its a compilation of famous authors and their first writings. I had never read anything by her before, but the story she wrote when she was a teen was quite good, so i think i'll read some of her stuff.

would you enjoy watching a car travelling at 190mph crash in to wall and explode in flames while the driver sits unconscious in his cockpit covered in blood petrol and oil ..its bloody horrific you ignorant fool!.

Hey!! First of all, it must be said that Canada has/has had some great, great, great authors!! (Just kidding... about my outrage, I mean, not Canadian literature :-)).
Yeah, I've read several of Atwood's books, and enjoyed most of them, even though she has a reputation as an inconsistent writer. I liked 'Alias Grace' a lot, and I also enjoyed Oryx and Crake. After I read it I found out that most Atwood readers found that book horrible :-).

The book you are talking about is, in my humble oppinion, a fantastic piece of work.
